Frequency of the
Board Meetings and Academic Advisory Body.
Governing body – Quarterly
Academic Body – Half yearly.
Organisational chart and processes
Enclosed.
Nature and Extent of involvement of faculty and students
in academic affairs/ improvements.
At
the highest level the college has a division known as Knowledge Management
Division (KMD). Apart from its dedicated staff, all the faculties are the
members of that division. The Academic Advisory Body gives its advice and
suggestion to KMD in which all faculty members of respective specializations
are members. One of the major areas of working is the development and up-dation of courseware. It draws its input through a written
feedback form. The other channel of improvement of KMD is the Dean’s Club to
which students are nominated and selected from both the years which acts as
highest body to give its feedback and the finding of Dean’s Club meeting is
ultimately passed on to the KMD for its implementation.
Each
paper has an academic circle consisting of members who are selected for
respective terms. Their feedback rotates around the subjective aspect of their
faculty, about the progress, about students field visits, seminars, workshops,
expert sessions and all the dynamics of the academic papers.
There
is an examination division for continuous evaluation headed by the Controller
of Examinations. Written students feedback is one of its objectives, to conduct
all university internal examinations and over and above this lies the
responsibility is of conducting other tests examinations and quizzes to help
the students understanding and grasp respective subject. To prepare student for
the university examination under which the following activities take place.
Apart
from examination result, 1/3rd students, out of the total, are
identified for special attention to be given to them. Suggestions are coming
through academic circle and Dean’s Club as far as identification is concerned
and other are also to be listed in that category. The test marks of student is
also one of the way to identify weak students. Once the list is ready special
bridge courses are arranged for the students. Typically those students who
comes from the non-commerce background are facing trouble
in
math, vernacular students are facing trouble in English, etc. These are the
students of slow learners. Special classes are held for the students to
understand the points at a much simplifier manner not disturbing the regular
class. Towards the end of the term just before the end of the program we have
some revision class in which the classes are specially held to reinstate the
points. In case some students do not register the points through progress of
the class. BRM is unique for the following:
E-Pro Support System:
The e-Pro student support system with an integrated learning solution approach
ensure a student all round academic development. Our students have appreciated
and preferred this learning style blended with concept building to application
orientation.
E-Pro Teaching Methodology:
With the adoption of three tier teaching methodology and with the help of LTM,
VAT & TPD the institute grooms the students to meet the challenges of
present day’s corporate world.
Student Induction Programme:
A three day students’ induction programme is
conducted at the beginning of every fresh batch. Top notch academicians and
industry expert familiarize the students with the course curriculum and the
business environment.
In
every term there is an open session held twice with the students by the
Chairman for any academical matter they like.
Mechanism/Norms & Procedure for democratic /
good governance
Zero
Tolerance Policy: The institute’s policy of ‘zero tolerance’
for improper behaviour and misconducts like sexual
harassment makes it a safe haven for girl students. Moreover the policy of
equal opportunity and counseling sessions on gender neutrality and equality,
ensure that the girl students do not remain as a disadvantaged group.
Equal
Opportunity Policy: BRMIMIT is proud to follow the
policy of Equal Opportunity and is committed to the fundamental principles of
academic freedom, equality of opportunity and human dignity. It lays emphasis
on the fact that decisions involving students and employees be based on
individual merit and free from invidious discrimination in all its forms,
whether specifically prohibited by law or not. Complaints of invidious
indiscrimination in violation of BRMIMIT’s policy are
to be resolved within
the Institute’s existing procedures. As a
policy, the Institute is against discrimination and harassment of any kind
based on a person’s race, colour, religion, sex,
national origin, ancestry, age, marital status, physical disability, un-favourable discharge from the military services. The policy
of non-discrimination applies to admission, employment and access to and
treatment in Institute’s programmes and activities.
Student
Feedback on institutional governance/faculty permance.
The
open-door policy of the institute envisages opportunities for students to give
guidance and suggestions for overcoming and streamlining areas in institutional
governance which would ultimately benefits them in the long run. Furthermore,
regular feedback appraisals of the teaching faculties has been found to be
beneficial for ultimate maintenance of the teaching standards.
Grievance redressal mechanism for faculty, staff and students.
The
grievance redressal mechanism exists to provide a
forum separately to faculty and staff. For students the existence of a
complaint register has proved to be a success since the reaction time is only
24 hours for compliance. We also follow the supreme court guidelines for
maintenance of a Sex Harassment Cell exclusively for female members.
